DGS uses a state-of-the-art gigabit network infrastructure and has based its core file, print, application and desktop platforms on MicrosoftTM technology. Our network operating system and directory technology uses a Windows 2003TM server and our desktops use Windows XP ProfessionalTM. These key infrastructure technologies provide the foundation for all other applications, functionality and legal specific solutions.
We use Elite EnterpriseTM, a software product designed specifically for law firms, as our accounting, time recording, billing, conflict and records management system. Our standard office suite is Microsoft OfficeTM, although we also retain WordPerfectTM capabilities in-house if the need arises. Our documents, e-mail correspondence, spreadsheets and presentations are managed through iManageTM, a document management system, on a client-matter specific basis that permits extensive version control and comparison capabilities. We use OutlookTM for calendaring and docketing of litigation, and we utilize several e-filing solutions as directed by various courts across the country. We collaborate internally with web-based technology shared through the firm's intranet. Our trial lawyers, paralegals and document clerks also utilize SummationTM, DBTextworksTM, LiveNoteTM, SanctionTM, CaseMapTM and Trial DirectorTM as litigation, trial and case management tools, both as in-house tools and remote collaborative tools.
We have invested heavily in technology solutions that encourage remote computing, messaging, and collaboration. DGS employs Microsoft Exchange 2003 EnterpriseTM as its messaging solution, and all of our attorneys have access to BlackberryTM PDAs to permit them to stay in constant contact with client needs. We also use several remote access solutions, such as virtual private network, web mail and web document management interfaces, which enable our professionals to work anywhere an internet connection can be established.
We have a significant information technology staff that routinely works to create efficient links between our technology and that of our clients. For instance, we often share discovery and case or matter management systems with our clients through the use of DGS-hosted extranets or other web-based systems. These provide secure portals to client and matter specific workspaces where documents, calendars, contacts and information can be easily viewed, edited and shared.
